  • Seven advertisements were published in National Dailies for awareness of the general public regarding provision of gunny bags (bardana), illegal occupation of state land, PPRA, impersonation as NAB officer, housing society scams, banking frauds and cheating public at large scams etc. were got published during the year 2017. The public was sensitized to be aware of frequent procedural violations and modalities that could make them vulnerable to fraud by the criminals

  • Awareness Workshop on Public Procurement
  • NAB Multan has organized 08 awareness workshops on Public Procurement Rules in the districts as given below. The workshops were aimed to sensitize and aware the public sector Officers / Heads of Departments / Principal Accounting Officers / Sanctioning Authorities etc. on public procurements and pointing out deviations including commissions and omissions culminating into criminal proceedings. The workshops were designed on the format of presentation on Corruption & Corrupt practices under NAO 1999 in Public Procurements by an officer of NAB M and a lecture on PPRA rules by Mr. Abdul Salam Senior Law Officer Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority Lahore. All the programs were concluded with interactive Q&A session upto entire satisfaction of participants.

  • Installation of Banners and distribution of Brochures / Pamphlets
  • On 27th Nov 2017, NAB Multan installed banners flaunting various eye-catching slogans against corruption at all conspicuous points of the city to aware the masses. NAB Officers also distributed pamphlets / brochures amongst general public to accentuate the significance of Anti-Corruption day.

  • A&P team liaising with media partners at Press Club Multan
  • Mr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Director, and Mr. Malik Waheed Ahmed DD NAB Multan visited Multan Press Club on 28th Nov to brief and invite media for the coverage of events organized in anti-corruption weeks. The Director apprised media personnel of the schedule planned by NAB Multan for awareness programmes / activities, in connection with Anti-Corruption Weeks. The media persons were requested to participate and provide maximum coverage of activities to spread awareness amongst general public. During the meeting pamphlets / supplements and program’s summary was distributed.

  • Distribution of Supplement / Brochures
  • Special supplements / brochures were distributed to sensitize masses with the significance and importance of International Anti-Corruption Day on 2nd of Dec, 2017. In this regard the role and efforts of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and its collaboration with NAB for eliminating corruption were highlighted. Additionally, the supplement also included the procedure of filing complaints in NAB along with the mandatory documentations / annexures as per the requirement. Said supplement was distributed amongst the general public at noticeable roundabouts / places / sites / public transport stops by the officers and officials of NAB Multan.

  • Awareness through Coloring of Books in schools
  • NAB Multan organized awareness activities through coloring books at Nishat High School Multan, Icon School Multan and British International School Multan on 30th Oct, 04th Dec and 11th of December respectively. Students of primary level participated in this exercise wherein they colored the books having anti-corruption themes. Mr. Abdul Hafeez Khan Director NAB Multan also administered oath of members of CBS and delivered a comprehensive lecture regarding purpose, functioning and activities of CBS and the ill effects of corruption to the growing children so that they become change agents in future.

  • Awareness Walk and Awards ceremony
  • On 09th Dec 2017, mega event of International Anti-Corruption Day was held at Arts Council Multan. A symbolic Awareness Walk held in the heart of city; wherein peoples from all walks of life including professionals, government servants, students, teachers and private persons participated to highlight the need of the hour to act against the menace of corruption as one nation. The event was given intensive live media coverage. Awards / certificates / souvenirs and cash prizes were awarded to the position holders of the awareness competitions. Mr. Abdul Hafeez Khan Director NAB highlighted the background behind conducting such competitions under the awareness and prevention framework. Mr. Atiq ur Rehman, Director General gave away the award to the position holders. He appreciated the performances of the position holders in painting, poetry, declamation and drama / tableau competitions. He termed the competitions an effort to inculcate ideas, perceptions and outlook towards corruption and stressed upon reinvigorating participation of each and every citizen of this country towards eliminating corruption in all of its forms. About 600 participants from all segments of society, students and govt officers etc attended the event on International Anti-Corruption Day.

  • Lecture
  • A lecture was delivered to faculty members / teachers of Bloomfield Hall School Multan on 13th Dec, 2017 by Mr. Abdul Hafeez Khan Director NAB Multan. He highlighted the significance of the office of a Teacher as Mentor and social as well as cultural efficacy of ethics, characters, morals and values.

Awareness Activities of Coloring Books at Tehsil Alipur and Jatoi Distt. Muzaffar Garh

  • Overview of the Activities
  • NAB Multan in collaboration with the District Education Authority Muzaffar Garh organized coloring of theme books by junior students on February 15, 2018 at Tehsil Alipur and Tehsil Jotoi separately.

  • Aim and Objective
  • The activities were aimed at awareness of junior students of primary school through coloring of anti-corruption themes sketches. The objective was to build positive attributes and create awareness among the children against corruption and familiarizing them with moral/ethical values; thereby developing them as a good citizen.

  • Participants:
  • The activities were attended by over 210 participants in each of the Tehsil which included:

    1. Mr. Waqas Akram, Assistant Director NAB Multan and Team,
    2. Officers of District Education Authority Muzaffar Garh
    3. 210 x students/participants for coloring books activity,
    4. Teachers and Staff of School.

  • Speech by Mr. Waqas Akram A.D (A&P)
  • Mr. Waqas Akram addressed participants and highlighted the objectives of this awareness activity. Participants were informed that the efforts are being made to inculcate honesty, truthfulness and hard work to groom them as a human being of high ethical and moral standard. Sketches with anti-corruption themes will become part of their long term memory and ultimately it will be reflected in their behavior.

  • Closing Remarks:
  • Mr. Sarwar Nadeem Dy. DEO Alipur and Mr. Arshad Javed Dy. DEO Jatoi paid rich tributes to the efforts of NAB on behalf of education department for initiating the colouring books activity and appreciated the endeavors and idea of NAB Multan. They encouraged students to partake as much activities as possible helpful in character building.

  • Conclusion:
  • The activities were a complete success. The response of participants was overwhelming and entirely up to the satisfaction that can be expected from an event.

Awareness Activities of Coloring Books at Tehsil Kehror Pakka and Dunyapur Distt. Lodhran

  • Overview of the Activities
  • NAB Multan in collaboration with the District Education Administration Lodhran organized coloring of theme book on January 18, 2018 at Kehror Pakka and Dunya Pur separately.

  • Aim and Objective
  • The activities were aimed at awareness of junior students of primary school through coloring of sketches upon anti-corruption themes, designed accordingly in books. The objective was to build positive attributes and create awareness among the children against corruption and familiarizing them with moral/ethical values; thereby developing them as a good citizen.

  • Participants:
  • The activities were attended by over 210 participants in each Tehsil which included:

    1. Mr. Waqas Akram, Assistant Director NAB Multan and Team,
    2. Officers of District Education Authorities Lodhran
    3. 210 x participants for coloring books activity,
    4. Students, Teachers and Staff of School.

  • Speech by Mr. Waqas Akram A.D (A&P)
  • Mr. Waqas Akram addressed participants and highlighted the significance of this awareness activity. The books contain sketches / pictures of anti-corruption themes thereby inculcating cherish ideas of honesty, hard work, uprightness and ethical living in future. He termed such activity a platform for students to make them aware of delicate norms. Through this activity, children will learn that corruption is unethical which affects the lives of all people.

  • Closing Remarks:
  • Mr. Muhammad Ismail Khan CEO, DEA Lodhran paid rich tributes to NAB on behalf of education department for initiating the colouring books activity and appreciated the endeavors and idea of NAB Multan. He encouraged students to partake as much activities against corruption as possible. According to him the system can be strengthened by inculcating the higher ethical, moral and social standards in lives of youth.

  • Conclusion:
  • The activities were a complete success. The response of participants was overwhelming and entirely up to the satisfaction that can be expected from an event.

Prevention News

 

  • Conference mode prevention: Briefing by SECP
  • A briefing was arranged on the issue of cheating public at large by listed companies / sole proprietors etc and 02 x officers of SECP namely Mr. Muhammad Ali Additional Director and Mr. Asim Cheema Deputy Director Legal gave a detailed briefing to DG NAB Multan. During the briefing, pros and cons were discussed for possible angles to put a stop on cheating public at large and forex scams.

  • Prevention Committees
  • During this quarter NAB Multan finalized the working of three prevention committees under prevention regime u/s 33 C of NAO 1999:

    1. Prevention Committee on “Illegal Occupation of State Land”

    2. Prevention Committee on “Canal Irrigation System (Moghas)”

    3. Prevention Committee on “Irregularities in Process of Procurement of Wheat and distribution of Gunny Bags (Bardana)”

    Meetings were held with officers of various departments and experts of relevant fields during the year in which deliberations were made and proposals / recommendations were requisitioned from the relevant departments. NAB Multan is compiling the Reports of these Prevention Committees for onward submission to NAB HQ Islamabad.
